Eye exam
A complete exam, with the doctor
We check your vision, the health of your eyes and whether you need glasses, in a visit of about 45 minutes.
Dr. Carranza does the exam, with help from Said, who runs the tests beforehand. A routine exam is billed to your vision plan; if the doctor looks at an eye problem or an eye disease, that part is billed to your medical insurance. We explain it before we start.
What to bring

Questions about the exam
Will you dilate my pupils?
Only if the doctor needs it to see the back of your eyes well. If so, she tells you first and suggests bringing sunglasses.
How often do I need an exam?
It depends on your age, your health and whether you wear glasses. The doctor tells you at the end of your visit.
Do I get my prescription?
Yes. Your prescription is yours. We give you a copy when you finish and you can fill it anywhere.
Does an evening work for you?
There are visits until 8 p.m. Monday to Thursday, and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
