Questions
Frequently asked questions
If you do not see yours, call us or leave your number.
Do I need an exam if I see fine?
Yes. An exam checks the health of your eyes as well as your vision, and some problems give no signs at first. The doctor tells you how often to come back.
Do you work with my vision plan?
We work with many vision and medical plans. Call us with your plan's name and we confirm it before your visit.
Why was part of my visit billed to medical insurance?
A routine exam is billed to your vision plan. If the doctor looks at an eye problem or an eye disease, that part is billed to your medical insurance. We explain it beforehand.
Can I fill my prescription somewhere else?
Yes. Your prescription is yours. We give you a copy and you can fill it anywhere.
What do I need to bring to my visit?
Your plan card, an ID, the glasses and contact lenses you wear now, and a list of the medicines you take.
How often should I have an exam?
It depends on your age, your health and whether you wear glasses. The doctor tells you at the end of your visit.
How much does a visit cost?
It depends on your plan and what you need. The front desk explains the cost before your exam and, if you pay yourself, we give you a written estimate. See the billing questions.
Can I have my contact lens prescription?
Yes. When your fitting is done we give you your contact lens prescription, and it is yours.
What do I do in an eye emergency?
If you suddenly lose vision, see flashes or a curtain, get a chemical in your eye or injure it, call us right away or go to an emergency room. If you cannot reach us, call 911.
Do you see children?
Yes, with an adult from the family present for the whole exam. See the children page.
